In Konspira you can try three of the most popular dumplings’ variations – ruskie, with mushed potatoes, cheese and fried onions, partisan’s with mushrooms and sauerkraut or anti-communist with meat served with a cup of homemade red borscht, aromatic soup made from beetroots.
Another popular and very tasty polish soup is żurek. It has traditionally been eaten at Easter, but now is found on menus all year-round. Though distantly related to the bread and garlic soups of Spain and Italy, its base is not meat or vegetable broth, but zakwas, made from rye bread and water. Żurek can be thin and delicate or hearty, stuffed with chunks of ham, sausage, and potatoes. We preffer the second version, with lots of biala kiełbasa or spicy, white sausage.
What about gołąbki? ….. We will not spoil the surprise, come and see for yourself!
